Explore the seven main chakras that act as reservoirs of energy within the subtle body. The awakening of individual awareness happens through the chakras. This week, Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASc, Ayurvedic Physician, will discuss the ways in which each of the chakras relate to the elements, to colors, sounds and Vedic deities and how we can use this information as an entry-point for bringing balance to these important energy centers. From a yogic perspective, Dr. Lad will discuss the relationship of kundalini, our spiritual, electro-magnetic energy, to the chakras as well as the extra-sensory perception related to their advanced development.

From an Ayurvedic viewpoint we will explore the ways in which each chakra relates to the physiological functions and disorders of the body. From digestive issues to eye health to thyroid disorders and more, physical imbalances often arise from a subtle source.

You will leave this weeklong class with a toolbox full of simple therapies for regaining balance that include the use of pranayama (breathing exercises), Ayurvedic herbs, essential oils, simple mantras, mudras (hand gestures), crystals, tuning forks and hands-on work that we will practice together in class.

We will end this week with a Q&A and puja to celebrate the sharing of this profound, Ayurvedic knowledge!

"Kundalini moves one by one clearing chakras of past life samskaras - doing homework and clearing emotions."

"Chakras have physiology, psychology and pathology."

Here is an interesting question someone asked during our 2017 Tanmatra Intensive:
Q: Should we focus on muladhara when we chant to Ganesh if he rules that chakra?
A: No, focus on the third eye/ajna chakra when you chant to Ganesh, because the third eye is the muladhara of the upper chakras - the medulla oblongata actually looks like the trunk of an elephant!
